  Committee Meeting on August 24, 2012 in Dallas
 
 

The August meeting was held at the Parkland Hospital (BARA CMAR Office - VCM Studio) in Dallas. The following members attended the meeting:

Topics discussed during the meeting include:

  • The BIM Evaluation Committee (led by George Pontikes) presented the draft BIM evaluation guideline, and discussed how to come up with answers to the list of items that owners can use to understand the contractor's level of proficiency on BIM.

  • The Conference Committee (led by Elyssa Horvath) presented the draft plan for the annual conference scheduled on November 8-9 in San Antonio. The sponsorship level was introduced. Keynote speakers were introduced. The process of inviting the breakout session speakers was discussed.

  • The idea of establishing the Facilities Management Committee was presented. Kurt Dierking at the Parkland Hospital volunteered to serve the committee as chair. It was suggested to come up with the mission statement and potential committee projects before the next meeting.

The BATA project team gave the following presentations:

  • "Parkland Hospital: Today and Tomorrow”, by Walt Massey (President of Consultancy Division, Balfour Beatty)
  • “BIM Implementation for the New Parkland Hospital” by Sree Kadiani (Manager of Integrated Projects, Balfour Beatty)
  • “Modeling for the Post Tension Walls” by Cody Conell (Project Engineer of Austin Commercial)
  • “Integrated Workplace Management System” by Kurt Dierking (Vice President of Facilities Management, Parkland Hospital)

The July meeting was held at the Methodist Hospital conference room in Houston. The following members attended the meeting:

Topics discussed during the meeting include:

  • The BIM Evaluation Committee (led by George Pontikes) reviewed the list of questions that owners may want to ask to understand the contractors' level of proficiency on BIM, and committee members discussed how to come up with answers to those questions so that owners can use them as guideline.

  • The Conference Committee (led by Elyssa Horvath) presented the draft plan for the annual conference scheduled on November 8-9 in San Antonio. The theme of the conference was suggested as "BIM - Reality Check and Future Agenda" The rooms at Grand Hyatt hotel have been reserved. The list of potential keynote presenters was developed. The sponsorship program was discussed. The process of inviting the breakout session presentations was discussed.

Mr. Reid Mrsny (Vice President of Facilities Engineering, Texas Medical Center) gave a presentation over the "Overview of the Entirety of the Medical Enter and the Future Plans"
